Admission Day -
What to Expect:

Patients begin work with their treatment team as soon as they are admitted into EDCare’s Partial Hospitalization Program. Within 48 hours of meeting an admissions clinician, a full treatment team is in place: psychiatrist, primary therapist, registered dietitian and family therapist. Each team member plays an important role in working toward the patient’s recovery – but none more so than the patient themselves.

On the first day of PHP, the typical process includes:

  • Appointment with our staff physician for full medical exam
  • Completion of initial paperwork
  • Meet with registered dietitian for a nutritional assessment
  • Meet with an admissions counselor for orientation
  • Meet our “Milieu” staff - the therapists who provide daily guidance and become oriented  with the meal process
  • After lunch, meet with primary therapist and complete a psychological assessment (individualized treatment program begins at this time)
  • Meet with attending psychiatrist and complete a psychiatric assessment
  • Meet with patient account supervisor to confirm and discuss financial obligations and arrangements

Patients Learn and Practice Recovery Skills

At EDCare’s Partial Hospitalization Program, patients both learn and put into practice the recovery skills for life-long success. This program helps patients internalize those skills so they can incorporate them into their way of life. As patients begin to experience daily successes, eventually they are able to gradually transition from our supportive, structured environment back into daily life at home.

Partial Hospitalization Program

“Highly structured, intensive program treats the most difficult eating disorder situations.”

Experienced, Qualified Experts

Our multidisciplinary team of board-certified psychiatrists, physicians, clinicians, family therapists and registered dietitians are dedicated to bringing about change through empowerment, using clinically proven treatment modalities and evidence-based care.

Healing for Mind, Body and Spirit

Our unique CAMSA® treatment approach heals the body, as well as the mind and spirit. Patients get personalized, specialized treatment plans to meet their very individual recovery needs.

Medical Evaluation and Oversight

Board-certified psychiatrists oversee our treatment teams. They ensure the right regimen focus, including the proper diagnosis and treatment of co-morbid psychiatric conditions suffered by many of our patients. A board-certified internist, who monitors physical and medical conditions, also attentively follows patients.

Individual Therapy

Patients meet with their primary therapist twice a week, and consult weekly with their psychiatrist. Each week, patients meet with their entire treatment team to update treatment goals and plans for aftercare.

Family/Couples Therapy

Patients and their families meet weekly with a family therapist. We also encourage them to attend multi-family group sessions every week. A family and friends support group is also available at no charge.

Group Therapy

We offer a wide range of daily psycho-educational, experiential (yoga, movement therapy, art therapy and psychodrama), and process groups covering topics like:

• Nutrition

• Healthy relationships

• Sexuality

• Medical lectures

• Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)

• Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT)

• Sensing the self

• Body image

• Addictions

• Grief and loss

• Other skills

Nutrition Therapy

Patients are served three daily meals and one snack, planned by our registered dietitians. They eat meals in groups, with a therapist. The dietitians also meet with patients weekly to review individual meal plans and goals. Our comprehensive nutrition therapy also includes a weekly cooking group and meals out.
