Julia Spenadel is a clinician and art therapist with a deep commitment to supporting individuals in their eating disorder recovery journey. Julia is currently a candidate for both her Provisional Registered Art Therapist (ATR-P) and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) credentials.
At EDCare, Julia serves as a primary therapist and facilitates art therapy groups across various levels of care, including adult residential, partial hospitalization, and adolescent programming. She has developed specialized art therapy curricula focused on body image, emotional regulation, and trauma integration, using creative expression as a pathway to healing. Her approach is informed by a strong foundation in trauma-informed care and integrates Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and narrative practices within the art therapy process.
Julia is especially passionate about working with neurodiverse individuals and tailoring interventions to meet each client’s developmental and neurobiological needs. She blends psychodynamic insight, somatic awareness, and metaphor to help clients access deeper meaning, build emotional resilience, and reclaim agency in their recovery.
Julia believes that healing happens through creative connection, with self, body, and others. Her goal is to create a supportive, expressive space where clients feel safe to challenge thought distortions, engage in parts work, and rediscover joy.
Outside of her clinical work, Julia enjoys spending time with her dogs, experimenting with mixed media, and practicing aerial silks.
