Brittany Athmer, PMHNP-BC, APRN, DNP

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Dr. Athmer is Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner originally from Missouri. Dr. Athmer has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Missouri State University and a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Iowa. She then obtained her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Creighton and is a certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Dr. Athmer has a huge passion for helping individuals with eating disorders and is so excited to be part of EDCare! She conducted her DNP Scholarly Project on implementing a screening tool for eating disorders in a child and adolescent mental health program. She is passionate about educating the medical community about the need for eating disorder screenings and the recognition that eating disorders affect clients of all walks of life, ethnicities, sexual orientations, shapes and sizes. Dr. Athmer is interested in research regarding implementing eating disorder screening into primary care and general mental health settings. Dr. Athmer values a patient-centered approach and working with patients to find their true identity outside of their eating disorder. Dr. Athmer sees each client as a completely unique individual and with unique strengths and goals. She believes in tailoring each client’s treatment to their individual needs to promote sustained recovery.

Outside of EDCare, Dr. Athmer loves to hike with her husband and her beagle/Pomeranian dog Autumn. She and her husband are new to Denver and are thrilled to spend some time in the mountains!
