Lisa Brownstone graduated with Honors from the University of Chicago in 2010 with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Music. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in August of 2017 after completing her Predoctoral Internship at the VA Eastern Colorado Healthcare System-Denver VA Medical Center. During her time at UNC-Chapel Hill, Dr. Brownstone focused her research on binge eating and loss of control experiences, as well as how emotion processing is related to disordered eating and health risk behavior. Her areas of interest and specialty going forward include emotion processing in disordered eating, trauma, psychotherapy process, multicultural psychology, and qualitative methods.
As a Postdoctoral Fellow at EDCare, Dr. Brownstone serves as a Primary Therapist. She believes the power of psychotherapy lies in creating a space where honesty can be expressed and experienced by therapist and client, and feelings can be felt. Outside of psychology, Dr. Brownstone enjoys playing and listening to folk/bluegrass music, being outside, and spending time with her dog.
