Primary Therapist

Dr. Trujillo is a licensed psychologist who obtained her doctorate degree from Purdue University in Counseling Psychology in 2019 where she specialized in grief/loss and working to address mental health needs and access with collegiate athletes. She completed her APA-accredited internship and post-doc at the University of Northern Colorado where she provided individual, group, consultation, and crisis support services in both the counseling center with the general campus community and in the athletics department working with individuals, teams, coaches, and administration. She also has her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (2015) and two bachelors’ degrees (Elementary Education, Psychology; 2012) from the University of Wyoming.

During her time in collegiate athletics, Dr. Trujillo conducted individual, group and team therapy to address concerns both in and out of sport. Further, she provided guidance and training to athletic trainers, coaches, and the broader athletics department related to mental health concerns to help coordinate care for current student-athletes and increase knowledge and awareness of mental health needs of student-athletes. She often attended practices, games, and would occasionally travel with teams to provide ongoing support and observations to increase performance, cohesion, and support for student-athletes. She also worked to implement assessment materials to screen athletes for mental health concerns and worked to de-stigmatize mental health distress and increase access to services for student-athletes.

Dr. Trujillo has been working in the mental health field since 2011 and has experience in in-patient facilities, intensive outpatient substance abuse, university counseling centers, residential treatment facilities for youth, alternative high schools, home-based therapy services, general outpatient services, and collegiate athletic settings. She is passionate about normalizing mental health in athletic populations and helping athletes become their best selves in and out of their sport.

In her spare time, she enjoys being with friends and family, being involved in any type of sport/competition, and traveling.
