Dr. Sheila Swearngin is a licensed psychologist in Missouri, Kansas, and Colorado. She has an MA in Clinical Psychology and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri in Kansas City. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of Kansas, School of Medicine in Wichita and Wichita State University, specializing in the treatment of eating disorders.
Before coming to EDCare, Dr. Swearngin worked as a psychologist in private practice for more than 20 years, specializing in the treatment of eating, compulsive exercise and working with student-athletes, addressing body image, trauma, and chronic health concerns. She enjoys collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team, and is a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist Supervisor. Dr. Swearngin conceptualizes patients as being experts of their own story and envisions the treatment process as collaborative, encouraging patients to be active and engaged in their recovery and change process, within a safe and supportive environment.
In her free time, she enjoys travel, competitive and recreational cycling, yoga, skiing, and spending time with her family and friends.
