Family Therapist

Aelyn Thompson earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Science, with minors in Psychology and Sociology, from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Her academic training supports a strong foundation in understanding the complex, interconnected factors that influence mental health and well-being.

Her professional background spans direct care and administrative roles in child welfare, skilled nursing, and college counseling, shaping her appreciation for the systemic and biopsychosocial influences on care. She previously served as an Admissions Counselor at EDCare Omaha, where she supported individuals and families as they took initial steps toward recovery, helping guide them through the admissions process and fostering connection from the very beginning of care.

Aelyn now serves as a Family Therapist at EDCare Omaha, where she provides family-based therapy, supporting clients and their loved ones in strengthening communication, deepening understanding, and working toward sustainable recovery.

She brings a trauma-informed, person-centered approach to her work, grounded in curiosity, autonomy, and authenticity. Aelyn is a member of the American Counseling Association and has presented nationally on topics related to mental health access and integrated care.

Outside of her clinical work, she enjoys reading, traveling, crafting and art, and attending live music events.
