When I originally read the reviews, I opted to try another PHP provider. With the other well-known/high profile provider, my kid had a bad experience, ran, would not engage, and was kicked out in less than 2 weeks and a near tragedy followed, with another round of inpatient hospitalization within and outside of CO. I didn't make the same mistake twice. Although the admissions process took a little while, the wait was worth it. My teen completed 13 weeks of PHP and 8 of IOP. In these 21 weeks, he missed one day, which blew my mind. That speaks for itself. The professionalism, competence, dedication, understanding, and compassion these professionals have - Lauren Waag, Brianna Poole, milieu staff Andea and Mike - is unlike anything I have ever seen in ED Treatment. Children's Hospital is great for medical stabilization, but if your kids needs an individualized approach for PHP, this is the place. I received more communication and guidance in one day than I received in weeks of inpatient hospitalization out of state. These people know what they are doing, they tailor the program to their clients, the understand their clients, they support the families, they are not underhanded, their decisions seem to be fully patient-centered, and they create a safe space for healing. While recovery is a long journey, I am so thankful Colorado has EDCare, and its Athlete's Edge program, as a resource. I don't know whether the prior negative reviews stem from prior management, prior staff, or dissatisfied clients who are overwhelmed by their ED voice, but this place is worth trying, even when you have a fully resistant teen. AND they have 1-2 therapy dogs. The 5-day a week PHP program, as opposed to 7 days a week, helped us get buy in and afforded the opportunity to demonstrate independence. The weekends off were a benefit, not a drawback. Current staff is spectacular. I hope we never have to return, but if the need arises, I have full faith in Denver's EDCare.

I suffered a TBI a couple of years ago, and fiercely gained a lot of maladaptive coping skills: PTSD, generalized anxiety, OCD, and ARFID. (Disclosure: behaviors discussed ahead) I severely restricted because of avoidance, and I thankfully found EDCare. I was on a very slippery slope when I arrived, as I wasn't able to eat for days at a time. I was able to gain enough knowledge and skills during 10 weeks of PHP to stabilize and remain stabilized. Because of my PTSD, OCD, and outside circumstances, I had an extremely rough transition into IOP. And, that is fine, as recovery isn't linear. Sometimes a good side quest is necessary. I've been home for a nearly a month, and I have been able to maintain by treating my meals exactly how I learned in PHP. Maintaining is my goal; therefore, EDCare was successful. I'm currently building on my knowledge and opening my window of tolerance in a virtual DBT program, and I know that EDCare is there for me when I'm able to move on with my ED recovery. This program gave me the confidence to do hard things, whether that's having a snack, driving on a paved road, having goals, and just having the courage to be my authentic self. I honestly might not be alive today without EDCare. I definitely wouldn't be moving forward without EDCare. This may not be the program for everyone, and I highly recommend the program for anyone with disordered eating. So, if you're reading this because you or someone you love has disordered eating, I know how hard it is to take the first step, and I also know that you can do hard things too.

We had a successful experience with EdCare Athletes Edge program. The providers are caring and do their best to provide support both to the patient and family. They took the time to make sure as a parent, I was in the loop and provided learning topics and therapy to help me support my child with anorexia. It is not always a smooth journey and we questioned some of the treatment along the way, but with a successful ending, we can confidently say that their treatment worked and we have our daughter back healthy, mentally stable and is flourishing at home post discharge. Thank you EdCare, all the hard work was 1000% worth it!

I’ve been here twice is 2022 totaling 26 weeks. I’ve had nothing but a positive experience. Treatment is hard and it sucks. I can’t thank them enough. The groups and ran well allows patients to learn coping mechanisms.

I was a former patient This is my updated review this is a great place if u wanna recover but unfortunately for me this place didn’t help me for the simple fact that I was struggling soo hard to eat food. they recommended me to go back to Res at viamar at first, I did agree to going back but then I changed my mind but now I am 100% thinking about going back because I do know I need a lot of help to overcome this because I want to change. I don’t want this anymore. The pros of this place is the art 🖼️ and all the sessions that they have I really don’t have any cons So give edcare a shot because u wont find any thing else quite like it everybody is so welcoming From the staff to all the people, and especially the therapist and the dietitians And the receptionist can’t forget her Emily is the best so after I’m done at viamar I will definitely be coming to this place

Our daughter came with a willingness of 0/10 to recover. Over the course of 5 months, she was able to start her journey to recovery and left ED Care with 8/10 in her willingess to recover. The parent support at the place was incredible! I learned so much about the disease and how to support our child. I am thankful for the staff and their care for our entire family.

EDCare was the best investment I made into myself and my battle with ED. The entire team was thoughtful, knowledgeable and helpful during my entire time there. I always felt fully supported and can't recommend them enough. My only note is that you get out of the experience what you put into it. You have to be ready to put your demons to rest when you go, which is easier said than done.

I did not end up choosing care here, but wanted to comment on the great admissions process I experienced. Nicole and Yvonne were kind and incredibly responsive with all of my questions as I sought out treatment for athletes with eating disorders. A timeline constraint and logistics was the main reason I chose a different treatment center, but I can say the admissions is seamless, judgement free, and looking to serve those seeking care.
EDCare was the most supportive treatment center I have ever been in. The staff and patients cared so much!

By far the best and most important experience of my life. It is evident they are mindful of who they hire as the entire staff was warm, clinically sophisticated, and relatable. I went in thinking recovery was not possible. That I was broken or the exception. I thought I was 'too far gone' or unable to reach because of everything else I had tried. EDCare is literally the real deal. I am walking away with a new sense of self and renewed level of self-approval/confidence. Trust in their process (they are the experts, after all) and be open to the possibility that this time gets to be different. As difficult as this experience was at times, I loved it. And would recommend it for ANYONE struggling with disordered eating or an ED. Take the first step and call....

I spent six months at EDCare Denver and am forever grateful for the care I received there. From the moment I first spoke with admissions (thanks, Keeley!) to the day-to-day groups and sessions, I was treated with kindness. As part of the Athlete Edge track, I experienced athlete-specific groups four times a week. These were some of my favorite groups! Within these groups and in my private sessions with my treatment team, I felt cared for as a person--not just a "patient." While treatment team communication is something I know EDCare is striving to continually improve, there was a constant and heartfelt message from all my providers that I matter. I came to EDCare wanting the info and the strict rules. I LOVE rules, and self-empowerment seemed like a pretty stupid idea to me. Turns out, the unique approach at EDCare allowed me to get outside of the paradigm of endless rules in favor of living and trusting myself. Thanks to those who have stood alongside me at EDCare (Brittany, Clair, Emily, Allie, Dr. Laurent, Brandon, Dr. Pryor, Dr. Becker, Kristen, Linda, Jessica, Kyle, Haley, and so many others), I have the tools I need to keep pursuing recovery, and so does my support system. If you are highly motivated and desire to truly break free from your eating disorder, I cannot recommend EDCare highly enough. My time there saved my life.
