
Alex Harris is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC). They earned their master’s degree from the University of Colorado Denver and their undergraduate degree from Oregon State University, where they were a member of the Women’s Track & Field team. Their clinical training included specialized work treating athletes with eating disorders, as well as children and adolescents through play therapy.
Throughout their career, Alex has worked across a variety of treatment settings, including state psychiatric hospitals, private practice, community-based mental health, and higher levels of care for eating disorders.
Their clinical approach is strength-based and rooted in a humanistic, person-centered philosophy. Alex utilizes evidence-based modalities including Narrative Therapy, Adlerian Non-Directive Play Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
In their current role as the Adolescent Athlete EDGE® Primary Therapist at EDCare Denver, Alex works one-on-one with athletes seeking treatment for eating disorders, helping them pursue recovery while continuing in the sport they love—if they choose. They also support program development and outreach efforts, including conference presentations and collaboration with community partners.
Alex believes in the interconnected nature of physical and mental health recovery, leaning into the resilience of each individual to support their unique journey. They value the power of the therapeutic relationship and the importance of remaining connected to ones community through their healing process. Alex meets clients where they are in their recovery, providing compassionate, individualized, and nonjudgmental care.
Outside of their professional work, Alex enjoys spending time with their service dog Baymax, family, and friends as well as exploring Colorado through road trips and hiking.
