Erik S. Akhund
Erik is a co-founder of EDCare and since 2005 has served as its Chairman.
Since 2000, he has served as Managing Director and Investment Officer of a private family office where he has been responsible for the origination of over $1B in investments in hedge funds, private equity funds and direct investments, and has also been involved in start-ups, workouts, restructurings, liquidations, buy-outs and IPO’s. His investments have been in the areas of energy and power, utilities, real estate, media, internet, manufacturing, biotech, and consumer goods. Previously, Mr. Akhund was engaged in principal or senior management positions with early-stage private companies, investment banks and venture capital firms. His board memberships have included ContourGlobal Holdings, Melinta Corporation, Kemado Records, Central European Petroleum, Cardell Financial Corp and others.
Mr. Akhund was a co-acquirer and co-founder of The Meadows and Rosewood Ranch and a member of their boards.
Mr. Akhund started his career with Bankers Trust Corporation in 1983. Mr. Akhund received a B.A. in Political Science, a B.S.E. in Industrial Engineering and an M.I.A. in International Banking and Finance from Columbia University, read international law at Oxford University before receiving an MBA-Finance from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.

Maureen Tarrant
Maureen Tarrant is President and Chief Executive Officer of Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center and Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children. She is an experienced senior executive within HCA’s HealthONE system of care and was named to the position in July 2014.
Prior to her role at P/SL and RMHC, Maureen was President and CEO of Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, Colorado. She led the planning, design and development, construction and opening of HCA’s HealthONE seventh and newest hospital in 2003. Before opening Sky Ridge Medical Center, she served as HealthONE’s Vice President for Strategic and Administrative Services. She began her career with HealthONE as Vice President of Planning and Marketing for Rose Medical Center.
With a deep commitment to community organizations, Maureen serves on many Boards and Committees. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors for Rocky Mountain Children’s Health Foundation. Additionally, Maureen serves on the Board of the Eating Disorder Center of Denver, Midtown Surgical Center and MIC Management Committee. She is also a founding board member of American Cancer Society’s “CEOs Against Cancer”, a Member of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Executive Challenge, an Alumni of Distinction at State University of New York at Oneonta and a long-time member of the Colorado Hospital Association.
Her leadership in healthcare related organizations is extensive. She is an Adjunct Faculty member of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Health Administration and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. She also served as Chair of the Board, Colorado Hospital Association from 2010 to 2011, and was a member of American Hospital Association’s Regional Policy Board from 2009 to 2011.

Walter Kaye, MD, FAED
Dr. Kaye joined the University of California, San Diego faculty from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he was research director of the Eating Disorder Program, and where he received a NIMH Senior Scientist award. He attended Ohio State Medical School, trained in neurology at the University of Southern California, trained in psychiatry at the University of California, Los Angeles, was a fellow and research physician at the National Institute of Mental Health Intramural Program, and a professor of psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Kaye has authored more than 400 articles and publications throughout this career. Dr. Kaye earned the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the field of Eating Disorders from the Academy of Eating Disorders.
