ANNA ENGKJER, PMHNP
She/Her/Hers
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Anna Engkjer is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at EDCare who brings extensive clinical experience and a compassionate, person-centered approach to care. She is dedicated to providing thoughtful and effective support to individuals receiving eating disorder treatment, grounded in the belief that every person’s story deserves time, respect, and understanding.
Anna began her nursing career as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, completing her training at Johns Hopkins University. She has practiced as an NP since 2010 and brings a broad medical background that includes internal medicine, correctional medicine, palliative care and hospice, geriatrics, and work with complex medical populations. Driven by a desire to further support individuals navigating mental health challenges, Anna returned to graduate school at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus to obtain specialized psychiatric training. She has worked in psychiatry for approximately three years and holds board certifications through the AANP as an Adult NP and the ANCC as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She also holds a dual MSN/MPH degree.
Anna’s primary clinical focus includes eating disorders, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and bipolar disorders. She evaluates and treats psychiatric symptoms using psychopharmacological interventions alongside evidence-based, non-pharmacological approaches, including CBT and DBT principles. She is deeply committed to serving diverse populations and providing respectful, non-judgmental care that reduces stigma and supports long-term healing.
Anna is guided by the belief that people from all walks of life are inherently valuable and that slowing down to truly see one another is essential to meaningful care.
Outside of her clinical work, Anna values spending quality time with her family, enjoying long walks, and soaking up the sun at the beach.
