What is Binge Eating Disorder?
Binge-eating disorder is characterized by episodes of consuming excessive amounts of food in a short time. During binge eating episodes, individuals may feel as if have lost control of their behavior – they may eat much faster than normal, and may continue to consume food even after they are past the point of feeling full.
Following a binge eating episode, the person may be left with feelings of shame, guilt, and even disgust. The behaviors and resulting negative emotions associated with binge eating disorder, often cause people to isolate themselves from friends and family, consequently leaving themselves without support at a time when they need it the most.
If you or someone you love has been struggling with binge eating disorder, help is available.

The EDCare Treatment Process
We utilize an individualized treatment approach. Each person is evaluated independently and provided with a tailored binge eating treatment plan that specifically addresses your recovery and development needs.
After your intake assessment with one of our compassionate Admissions Clinicians, we will help you determine the appropriate level of care in one of the following programs:
EDCare’s adult Residential (RTC) program in Denver blends intensive daytime treatment with the comfort of evenings in a calm, off-site home. This 24/7 dual-setting model supports structure, continuity of care, and balance of everyday routines into the recovery process.
The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) offers a highly structured, intensive treatment option for individuals with eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, OSFED, and ARFID. Available in Denver, Kansas City, and Omaha, the program provides comprehensive care through individualized treatment plans that address medical, nutritional, and psychological needs. Patients can choose to return home in the evenings or stay in EDCare’s local housing accommodations, offering flexibility during their recovery journey.
Once patients have internalized the skills they acquired in the Partial Hospitalization Program, they may move into the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). At this stage, patients begin to strengthen their recovery skills and transition to eating meals on their own and spending time outside of the center.
The Evening Intensive Outpatient Program (EIOP) is similar to IOP. Only, EIOP is specifically designed for those who may have responsibilities that prevent them from receiving daytime treatment such as school, work, or daily obligations. This multifaceted program in Kansas City aims to disrupt old behavior patterns, address the patients’ fears, and encourage them to take on new challenges.
EDCare’s Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (VIOP) brings comprehensive eating-disorder treatment straight to your home. Designed for adults ages 18+ living in Colorado, Kansas, and Nebraska, the program offers group sessions plus weekly individual and nutrition appointments, providing the structure of an IOP without the commute. Real-time meal coaching, mood and meal tracking, and continuous feedback from specialists ensure personalized, evidence-based support. By integrating cutting-edge tools with compassionate clinical care, VIOP empowers you to pursue recovery wherever you are.
EDCare’s Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program (APHP) is available in Denver and Kansas City for teens who are 13-17 years old. It supports both patients and their families in confronting the challenges that come with an eating disorder. This unique program is specifically designed to give teen’s access to the support and resources they need to address their eating disorder triggers and move toward successful recovery, without compromising time for school and other activities.
