Health at Every Size®: Is it actually healthy? Examining the science behind Intuitive Eating & HAES®

Health At Every Size® has become a buzz phrase within the Eating Disorder community. Critics argue this approach is contributing to numerous health problems and perpetuating the “Obesity Epidemic” in our society. This often leads to confusion and mixed messages from providers. This presentation will introduce Health At Every Size® and Intuitive Eating and review the science behind these approaches and how they can be utilized in supporting people with disordered eating and chronic dieting.


  1. Participants will be able to describe the principles of HAES® and intuitive eating and how they can be used to help treat people with disordered eating.
    2. Participants will learn what the science about HAES® and intuitive eating.
    3. Participants will be able to critically assess the usefulness of HAES® and Intuitive Eating approaches with their clients.
