Description:

This presentation will guide you through the inner workings of providing dietetics care in the partial hospitalization setting for individuals struggling with eating disorders. This will encompass the dietitian’s focus throughout treatment, day-to-day functions, areas of specialization, and how the RD functions within the treatment team. Additionally, this webinar will explore knowing one’s limits and when to seek further help or expertise in an area; knowing when to refer to a higher level of care or find a more specialized provider.

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Participants will be able to identify who Dietitians work with.
  2. Participants will discuss what is within the Dietitian’s scope of practice and expertise.
  3. Participants will increase their ability to assess for the severity of an eating disorder and refer to another provider/higher level of care as necessary.
  4. Participants will discuss the day-to-day practices of working as a Dietitian in the eating disorder field.

Alison Powell, RD | Director of Nutritional Services at EDCare

Alison received her Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Food Science from Colorado State University in 2012 and completed her Dietetic Internship at the University of Oklahoma’s College of Allied Health in 2013. Since becoming a Registered Dietitian, Alison has developed her skills in counseling and nutrition care by working with clients in long-term care, clinical, and restaurant environments as well as acute eating disorders.

Alison is passionate about the connection between people, food and health. She is committed to helping others develop positive associations that make eating more pleasurable and believes in patient-centered care.
