Once patients have learned to internalize the recovery skills they need in our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), they are able to begin the transition back into daily life at home with the support of our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
At this stage in their eating disorder recovery, patients transition to eating two meals on their own and begin spending more time away from the center. Our Intensive Outpatient Program consists of a five-hour day. Patients have the opportunity to gradually step down before they discharge to an outpatient team.

Ever Wondered What an Intensive Outpatient Eating Disorder Program is?
What is an Intensive Outpatient Eating Disorder Program?
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs) offer a lifeline for those on the path to eating disorder recovery. The existing schedule, which is tailored to each patient’s needs, provides structure and support. In addition to the daily meal and snack at our center, the average five-hour day equips patients with tools to transition successfully into their post-treatment lives.
What sets our IOP apart is our commitment to the CAMSA® treatment philosophy, a unique approach that goes beyond traditional methods. Through CAMSA®, we empower patients to break free from the chains of their eating disorders. It is about more than just managing symptoms; it is about fostering enduring, positive change in daily life.
Our patients are not merely surviving; they are thriving. By disrupting old patterns of behavior, confronting fears, and embracing new challenges, they’re building a foundation for lifelong recovery. They possess the resilience and strength needed not only to recover but to maintain that recovery for a lifetime.
At our center, the future is not defined by the past; it’s a horizon of limitless possibilities.
Intensive Outpatient Eating Disorder Treatment from EDCare
We believe every patient has what it takes to recover from eating disorders. Our robust Partial Hospitalization Program is similar to many residential treatment programs for eating disorders. It’s a highly-structured and intensive program that treats patients with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and other eating disorders. In our supportive environment, patients gradually learn the skills necessary for lasting recovery. .
Many patients go home at the end of a program day. Alternatively, we offer supportive housing all of our locations. Once patients implement the recovery skills they learn in our eating disorder PHP, they learn to transition smoothly to their everyday lives through the intensive outpatient program.
This program is a unique treatment option for those who need more support than traditional outpatient care can provide. Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for eating disorders is a specialized form of treatment that combines the benefits of PHP treatment with the flexibility of outpatient care.
It is designed to provide patients with a high level of support while also allowing them to maintain their daily routines at home. Our Intensive Outpatient Program for eating disorders follows evidence-based practices and provides comprehensive, individualized care to address the complex needs of each patient.
