Description:

This presentation will provide context around athletes with eating disorders and will expand on important components to consider in identifying and treating eating disorders while paying attention to the broader sport context.

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Participants will identify the signs and symptoms of eating disorders in athletes.
  2. Participants will increase their awareness of the factors within the athletic culture that often fuel the development of eating disorders.
  3. Participants will increase their understanding of how eating disorders can affect performance in athletes.
  4. Participants will increase their ability to assess for severity of an eating disorder and refer to a higher level of care as necessary.

Natasha Trujillo, PhD, LP | Primary Therapist at EDCare

Dr. Trujillo is a licensed psychologist who obtained her doctorate degree from Purdue University in Counseling Psychology in 2019 where she specialized in grief/loss and working to address mental health needs and access with collegiate athletes. Dr. Trujillo has been working in the mental health field since 2011 and has experience in in-patient facilities, intensive outpatient substance abuse, university counseling centers, residential treatment facilities for youth, alternative high schools, home-based therapy services, general outpatient services, and collegiate athletic settings. She is passionate about normalizing mental health in athletic populations and helping athletes become their best selves in and out of their sport.

 

 


CE Credits: A Certificate of Attendance for one (1) clock hour will be issued to all participants. Participants are responsible for contacting their respective state and discipline licensing boards to confirm acceptance of CE credits.
