Dr. Lalita M. Akers is a psychiatrist from Cleveland, Ohio. She relocated to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to attend Wake Forest University, and graduated with a degree in Biology. Dr. Akers attended Wake Forest University School of Medicine for medical school. She completed general psychiatry residency and fellowship in child/adolescent psychiatry at Wake Forest Baptist Health. She is board certified in general psychiatry, and a member of the American Psychiatric Association.
Dr. Akers’ passion for eating disorder collaboration developed during her medical training, and she is thrilled to be a member of the team at EDCare Denver! She utilizes a patient-centered approach and considers the whole person: Mind, Body and Spirit. In addition to her medical background, Dr. Akers continues to develop and utilize various therapeutic techniques, such as mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy. She sees herself as a Guide for clients on their journey to a healthier self. She enjoys working with clients from all walks of life and is interested in research regarding underserved communities and eating disorders.
In her spare time, she practices Yoga and Reiki — and she is striving toward incorporating these treatment modalities in her practice.
